MicroBlaster Overview
A compact, production-ready micro blasting system designed for controlled removal of MgO insulation from mineral-insulated thermocouples prior to welding or inspection. The Micro Blaster combines selectable nozzle and media sizes, a large laminated safety viewing window for clear visibility of the blasting process, and a robust enclosure design for cleaning conductor tips.
Two independent 1-litre media containers provide a total of 2 litres of blast media, allowing rapid changeover between media types. A sapphire crystal nozzle is used for fine blasting with 100-micron media on small-diameter cables, while a tungsten carbide nozzle supports higher-throughput blasting with 200-micron media for larger cable sizes.
Use for the removal of the MgO from hot junction after drilling, using media from 110-200 microns via two nozzles to ensure maximum removal and preparation for capacitor discharge welding.
